Chiefs must overcome poor record against Polokwane City

Ordinarily you would expect Saturday’s Absa Premiership clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Polokwane City to be a home banker for the AmaKhosi, but recent meetings have gone heavily in the favour of the Limpopo club.

League leaders Chiefs will host City at the FNB Stadium as they look to extend their lead at the summit of the Premiership, but they can take little comfort in recent history against Rise and Shine.

Chiefs have in fact only managed a single win in the last five meetings between the sides, while City have claimed two successes and there have also been two draws.

City won 1-0 in May 2017 as Thapelo Tshilo netted a winner five minutes from time, while they followed that up with another success in October last year as Vusi Mngomezulu scored the only goal of the game.

Chiefs’ only success came in a 2-1 home win in January 2018 as Dumisani Zuma and Ryan Moon scored, while two games ended in a draw, including the last meeting in February.

Even though Chiefs have underperformed in the last few years, there are few sides who can boast as strong a record against them as City.
